Sold!

Today we closed on our Conneticut house! It sold fast and while we were sad to leave, we are happy to be done with the process. I really loved the kitchen in this house. It had a giant granite island that we were always gathered around. I think that is what we will miss most about it. Next up: finding a house in Ohio to put an offer on!

Here are a few photos from the listing.

Front Door & Stairway Updates

Where did the weekend go?!  I feel like I blinked and it was over.  We spent Saturday furniture shopping (we have a lot of furniture to buy to fill our new house) and we spent Sunday grocery shopping, Target shopping, mowing the lawn and taking it easy. We have a big week ahead of us.  My in-laws are coming to visit and little man's birthday is on Saturday!  He turns TWO!!

Here are two mini-projects I have wanted to share.  The front door update I did a little while back and the stairway frames were put up on Sunday.

For the front door, I added an "H" to the wreath as a way to change it up a little.

I picked up a wooden letter H at Joann Fabrics for $3, spray painted it silver and attached it with floral wire.

Pretty simple!

I also (finally) added some frames to our stairway! Usually, I don't like a cluttered, mismatched look... but I will make an exception for gallery walls!

I had no idea how I wanted to arrange my frames so I traced them on newspapers and numbered them to help keep track of which template went with each frame. I taped up the newspaper templates and rearranged a few times. I think I still may tweak it a bit and plan to add a few more, smaller photos as our family grows (grows in numbers and grows in height!). Eventually, I would love to have the entire wall filled, all of the way to the floor, and extend onto the hallway walls also.

(I'm not sure why the walls look green in the in-progress newspaper photo. The walls are a nice, light shade of beige).

I can't wait to add photos once our baby girl is born.  Ohhh, newborn pictures are the sweetest!

First Room Painted!

My mom is visiting this week and together we painted our first room: the bathroom!

It was easy to improve upon because the walls were an awful shade of pink. Typically, I love all things pink, however, pink bathrooms are never a good idea (never).

We still have some work to do to make it perfect, but a fresh coat of (neutral) paint goes a long way!

New Home!

We had a VERY eventful weekend! We moved into our new house!! We are so excited and hope this will be our last move for a long time. This is the tenth home the hubby and I have lived in since we have been married (almost 6 years). Little man has lived in 6 of these homes and he is only 21 months. Craziness! This is the first home we have owned and we are relieved to be settled. Here's to you Connecticut... Cheers!

New Home

Here are some pics from our new house. There is not much to show since most of our rooms are empty. Our things are still in NJ. We only brought "essentials" with us and are having the moving company pack and bring the rest. I have no idea when this will happen... for now we are prepping for the big snow storm supposed to hit this weekend! I hope we only get two inches and not two feet! ...eek.

Ok - back to the house. When you walk in the front door you see these stairs, to the right of them is our living room. Just past them, the dining room. They toy room is adjacent to the dining room (both in the center of the house) and the kitchen through them, in the way back. There are 3 bedrooms and a bathroom upstairs. We plan to rent this house for six months while we search for a home to buy. There you have it!!

Weekend Updates

Last weekend we went up to CT to check out a few houses. We looked at a few places but realized we were going to need a lot more time if we wanted to buy a home.

Since the hubby starts his new job so soon, we figured it would be best to rent a house while we continue to look. We drove up on Saturday, finalized everything and stopped at a Cracker Barrel for lunch. It was great place for lunch because we took little man over to the toy section while they got our table ready. Surrounded by toys, he managed to find a broom (not for sale) and swept the floor. He loves brooms!

Mission accomplished! We found a house to rent and move in at the end of this week. It is a single-family, 3 bedroom house that has recently been renovated, new kitchen, bathroom, everything! I will post more pics once we get moved in since I'm sure you're excited to see! But for now... it's time to pack!!!

Virtual Visit

Today, I would like to give you a little sneak peak into our apartment! Here are some overview pictures. There are so many things I would like to zoom-in on, but this will give you an idea of the layout for now.  Please excuse all of the toys :)

The front door would actually be to the left of this photo.
This photo is taken with me standing in the entrance to the bathroom.
This photo was taken with me standing in the living room,
looking back into the kitchen.
This is Christopher's reading nook.  The far right of this picture leads into our bedroom.
The wall opposite has our couch.
Here is opposite the tv. To the left of the clock is the entrance to our bedroom.
The far right of this photo (near the lamp) is the door to the nursery.
Open doorway into the den, which we use as our bedroom.
We usually keep a baby gate here to keep little man out of mischief!
Our apartment is a 1BR+den.  The den is a small room off of the living room with two closets, just big enough for a queen bed and two small nightstands.  While this would have made an ideal nursery, it does not have a door.  Since we always try to keep it as quiet as possible while little man sleeps, we decided to put the nursery in the large bed room (because it has a door).  This has worked out great as he doesn't wake up until 7:30 each morning (he sleeps through my Mr. getting in the shower, making coffee, etc).

Looking into the den/bedroom from the living room.
From this angle, there is a window to the right of the bed and the closets are on the left side.
We keep our clothes in the large walk-in closet in the nursery.  The two closets in the den, we have turned into his and her offices.  We put two tables from Ikea, chairs, lamps. It is a bit cluttered in there now. I hope to be able to better organize this space.

His & Her "closet offices." Our tv is mounted up above them.
I will try to take some more photos to include the nursery and bathroom (which I'm sure you're dying to see!) ... but that is another post for another day!  I hope you enjoyed 'visiting' our home today!

The APT!

Here are the first photos of our apartment!

The night photo was taken from our balcony and the tall red building is the empire state building!
