June the Show Dog

Little man loves to walk the dog. Every morning, as soon as he wakes up, he wants to put on his shoes, put the leash on the dog, and walk her around the deck (or the kitchen island). June doesn't seem to love it but she doesn't seem to hate it either. She is a good dog and surprisingly tolerant.

Little man also likes to cover her with his blankets. I have no explanation for this!

Heat Wave

It has been a hot week so far so we've been doing our best to keep cool!

(It actually wasn't hot outside when little man had to cool off in front of the A/C. He was sweaty from running laps around the kitchen, chasing the dog!)

Golf Outing

On Sunday we went to a golf outing. We had a blast! The weather could not have been better and little man was perfectly behaved and had loved being outside.

We decided next year we are going to dress little man in all orange puma like Ricky Fowler. The highlight of the trip was when little man was given a bag of cheese popcorn. It is his new favorite!

We walked around a little but but spent most of our time sitting on a hill overlooking the 17th green.

Little man really liked clapping for the players after the hit a shot. Here he is clapping when Bubba Watson teed off on hole #1.

Weekly Recap

We had a busy week last week so I thought I would combine it all into one GIANT post full of pics and videos. One of little man's new things this week is pretending to be a dinosaur - it is hilarious!

My mom was here and we did quite a but of shopping, out to eats, trips to the park, and playing in general!

Here are just a few of my favorites from the week:

First Room Painted!

My mom is visiting this week and together we painted our first room: the bathroom!

It was easy to improve upon because the walls were an awful shade of pink. Typically, I love all things pink, however, pink bathrooms are never a good idea (never).

We still have some work to do to make it perfect, but a fresh coat of (neutral) paint goes a long way!

Baking Up A Storm!

This week I have been baking non-stop! I usually bake pretty often, but lately my sweet tooth has been in full force. Here's what I've been up to:

Tagalongs
It was one of those nights where there was nothing to eat in the house. I was overdue for grocery shopping and craving something sweet.

I am not sure where the inspiration came from but I took 2 Ritz crackers, sandwiched them with peanut butter and dipped them in chocolate almond bark. (I used one sleeve of Ritz and 4 squares of candy coating.) I popped them in the freezer for a few minutes and voila! I had a sweet treat that was actually really good! They tasted just like the Tagalong Girl Scout Cookies and only took 10 minutes start to finish.

I hadn't planned on blogging about them, but once I tasted how delicious they were I had to share!! This is one of those, "stop-what-you're-doing-right-now-and-go-make-these" type of treat. You won't be disappointed! I think these are going to become a regular in the cookie rotation.

Cake Batter Puppy Chow
I also made Cake Batter Puppy Chow. I mixed 8 oz if melted white chocolate over 4 cups of Rice Chex. Then I added it to a ziplock bag that contained 1c. White cake mix & 1/2c. pwd sugar and gave it a good shake.

It is very yummy. It is very sweet with the white chocolate and cake mix. I can eat a handful at a time but can't eat the whole bag. (I would only make this if you LOVE cake batter. I probably won't make this again. I think I prefer the regular, old puppy chow recipe.)

My little helper loved stirring and shaking! I let him have the spoon when we were done. As you can see, he loved the white chocolate!

Strawberry Cream Pie
We had friends over for dinner on Thursday so I whipped up a Strawberry Cream Pie. It is always a hit! Little man tried a bite and said, "mmm! mmm! mmm!" Then he proceeded to eat the rest of mine!

I also made Chex Mix and Chocolate Fudge but we are them too fast for photos!

Tomorrow is a big and exciting day for us! We find out if we are having a boy or girl in November!! I still think it is a girl so we will see if I am right.

Here are three reasons I think it is a girl:
- I am not famished at all times like I was with little man
- My belly is quite round but I still don't need to wear maternity pants/shorts. I think it is because I am carrying this baby higher. With little man I was wearing maternity clothes right away.
- All I want to eat is candy. And cookies. And milk shakes. With little man I wanted a meal, preferably one that started with chips and salsa and involved sour cream. This time around nothing sounds good to eat... except chocolate fudge or maybe strawberry pie.

I will post tomorrow when I find out so be sure to check back!

Trip To The Zoo

Over the weekend, we met friends at the zoo and had a great time. Little man soaked up every minute of it but the highlight of the trip was (by far) the carousel!

Father's Day Art

Little man decorated a coffee mug for his Father's Day gift. It turned out really cute and his dad loved it.

We started out with a plain white porcelain mug and Martha Stewart paint made for glass/porcelain.

The project was a little messier than I expected but it was still fun! Little man loved painting. We used only blue and green. There was a lot of color-mixing so I was glad I stuck with two colors.

I painted "2013" on the bottom and we let it air dry for about 8 hrs then baked it for 30 minutes at 350 (placing it in a cold oven so that it didn't crack). It is supposed to be dishwasher safe but is not ok for the microwave. Most importantly though, Dad loved it!

The Great Gate!

The hubby and a friend built a gate!! The gate encloses our deck so that Miss June can sunbathe without escaping. We can also let her be out with us while we are grilling or dining al fresco. It gives her an outside area where she can be off leash since our backyard is not fenced in. We LOVE it!

Here is an in-progress photo of the Mr!

Also, I picked up a wreath for our front door! It is a little hard to see through the screen door, but it looks really nice in person!
