Happy Easter!

I never got around to sending out Christmas cards.  Somehow it all happened so fast and before I knew it, it was Valentine's Day.  So I finally am sending out my "Christmas cards" relabeled as Easter. I kept the recipient list to just close family as to not seem too crazy, I mean, who even sends out Easter cards?!  I made them using Shutterfly and love how they turned out.  Enjoy!

A Failed Fort

Yesterday we built a fort ... but little man would not go inside. He insisted on sitting on the chairs used to construct it. Maybe we will leave it up for a day and see if he warms up to the idea.

Rock Star

Here is a video of little man playing his guitar and singing. Next American Idol?!

Cereal Milk

Confession: I cannot get my little guy to drink milk. Not whole, skim, chocolate or strawberry. We've tried calling it different names, putting it in opaque cups, using special straws. Nothing. He spits it out, appalled. He makes faces, throws his cup on the ground and says, "No!" (...or sometimes, "No! No! No!")

This has been ongoing for 7 months with (obviously) zero luck. Luckily, he loves yogurt and cheese so we keep him eating those.  But it's not enough.  I need this child to drink milk!

There is ONE way he will consume milk - on his ONE favorite cereal: Cinnamon Chex. He slurps the milk up like a pro and will even drink it from the bowl. While it is a small victory, it is not one to be ignored!!

He is saying Num Num Num which translates to Yummy!

Farm 2

Last week we went back to the farm! We saw the animals, chased ducks and visited the greenhouse. The highlight of our trip was petting the barn cat (he was actually quite friendly!). This trip, little man was not interested in the donkey whatsoever - I guess he's over that now!

Limited pics. Since it was just the two of us I wasn't able to snap too many but I did get a few!!

Not too impressed by the donkey

Guess Who Saw His Shadow?!

Little man discovered his shadow and was mesmerized by it. He played peekaboo with it and at one point actually kissed it!

Pipe Cleaners

This was one of our most challenging activities yet! We worked on our fine motor skills by sticking pipe cleaners through the holes of a strainer.

The first time we did this little man was easily frustrated. It was pretty hard for him to do (he is 19 months now) with full length pipe cleaners. He wanted to hold them in the middle which made them too flimsy. I showed him how to hold them at the end and we had a little success...

Day 1

The next day I cut each pipe cleaner in thirds. This made it MUCH easier and a lot more fun! He would clap his hands after he put one through and also liked to pull them out. We plan to keep practicing over the next few days!
Day 2
Here is a video of him in action!

Easter Bunny

Yesterday, little man had his picture taken with the Easter Bunny at the mall. He loved him!! He ran right up to him, waving hello and then climbed up on the bench to have his picture taken. I was worried he would be afraid because he is usually pretty shy around strangers... oh, how wrong I was! Once the photo op was over, he didn't want to leave!  It was all pretty cute and I'm really glad we did it.

Bucket Of Beans

I gave little man a bucket of beans and let him go to town! I didn't explain that these beans were just for play and within seconds he had popped a handful in his mouth --rookie mistake! (I take full responsibility: they look like candy plus I told him they were beans)

I picked up the supplies at the Dollar Tree for a total of $3 (I used 2 packages of beans but one would've been plenty).

I hid some caps and lids in the beans for little man to discover. He loved this! He liked to stir, dig and transfer the beans to another bowl.

He started out very focused on each and every bean. If one spilled from the bucket, he had to stop, find the bean, and put it back in. Here is a video of him doing this!

After about 15 minutes, I blinked and BAM! They were all over the floor and he was slinging them everywhere. Luckily, they clean up easily :)

Weekend Recap

We had a (much needed) quiet, relaxing weekend. We spent Saturday lounging around, relaxing. Sunday we went into town to a French cafe/bakery for lunch.

Little man with a chocolate croissant

Luckily for little man there was a toy store nearby that we spent some time in. I couldn't get very good pics because he was so busy playing he 1) wouldn't look up at me and 2) was running around so fast the pics were a blur!

Happy St Patty's Day!

Bath time is a big part of our day. It's little man's favorite. If we even say the word BATH he runs to the stairs with excitement and screams until we take down the baby gate. Then he runs up the stairs, straight into the bathroom and tries to get in the tub, with clothes still on, sans water. He loves taking a bath!

So, I thought we should take advantage of a chance to have a very fun bath -- let's celebrate St Patricks Day!

I picked up foam shamrocks (foam sticks to bath tub walls when wet), a clover glow stick, mardi gras beads (every leprechaun needs his gold) and of course, dyed the bath water green. I used these bath dropz from Crayola. One jar costs $4 and contains 45 bath drops in red, blue and yellow. I used one blue and one yellow to get a great green.

Playing At The Park

We finally had a sunny day! It was (barely) warm enough to get out so we took a small trip to a neighborhood park. We spent most of our time on the swings and played a game of peekaboo around a tree!

Farm Visit

Last Sunday we went to a farm. Yes, we put on our boots and got some farm-fresh air!!

Little man liked the donkey the most. I liked the baby lambs. They were only 4 days old!

I realize my photo skills are worse than usual ... I have no excuses!

Best Bath Paint Ever!

I have finally conquered homemade bath paint, and its awesome! This was my third attempt and I'm so happy with the results. The paint was a great consistency: not too thin and easily scooped up with a paintbrush.

I used shaving cream and 1-2 drops of food coloring. The colors turned out great and little man went nuts with the stuff!

It also helped that I only filled the bath with about two inches of water. I think this discouraged the dumping/pouring of water and kept his tray from getting water-logged. After we were through playing I drained the tub and refilled it with clean water to wash his hair.

Here's some evidence of how much fun this was ...

Egg Hunt #1

We did our first egg hunt with much success! I bought the extra large eggs and filled each with two M&Ms (it doesn't seem like much by the time he found all of the eggs and then repeated the hunt, he had plenty of sugar running through his veins!!). I did five eggs total.

I showed him how the eggs opened and closed and explained how there was candy inside. I coached him with the first one, "What's that over by the slide?" Let's just say he caught in quickly and was eating M&Ms faster than I could snap pictures!

How many eggs can YOU find?
