Size Up!

Lately I've been noticing little man's pajamas are getting a bit snug. Some of the bottoms are almost too tight around his belly, some of the shirts show his belly... I wasn't sure if they were too small or not, but when in doubt, size up! I brought out a pair of 3T (yes, my 18 month old is now wearing 3T) and they fit perfectly! He still wears 2T in his regular clothes but the pjs tend to run a bit small in my experience. I cannot believe he is growing so big so fast!

Here are some pics of him in his 3T pjs, eating peanut butter chocolate chip cookies. (He actually had the same pair in 2T so they might look familiar!)

Bath Painting

I made bath finger paints and they were really fun! I think I will be making these again soon!!

I mixed flour (approx 1/4 c) with a splash of water, stirred it into a paste. Next, I added no tears baby shampoo (generic cheapo brand) divided it up and added a drop of food coloring. I didn't go crazy with the food coloring because I didn't want it to stain his skin or the tub (luckily, it didnt stain either). I'm glad I went with the no tears shampoo instead of dish soap. There was quit a bit of paint splatter, paint in his hair, and by the end of it, we had one giant bubble bath.

The original recipe I saw called for corn starch (and no water). I would've gone this route but I couldn't find my corn starch. Substituting water and flour worked fine but wasn't as smooth as I think the corn starch might have been.

I think next time I will use 3 individual containers instead of one that is divided up. Before long, this one was dumped into the bath and the container water logged. I think a smaller containers might be easier for him to hold.

The paint brush was the star of the show. He really liked stirring and using the brush to paint.

Before long, he had dumped out all of the paint and playing with the bubbles.  He took the painting very seriously. He was very focused...  but pouring the water really got him laughing!

Here are two videos of him playing because I know the grandmas (and grandpas) just can't get enough of this little guy!

Happy Birthday, Aunt Ashy!

Today is my youngest sister Ashley's GOLDEN birthday!!  She turns 22 on the 22nd!

Aunt Ashley and little man have a very special connection.  She lived with us in Louisiana and watched him every day for months so that I was able to go back to work. The two of them became the best of friends and he ADORES her.  Sometimes I would actually get jealous because I thought he was starting to like her more than me ... the two of them are that close!

Aunt Ashley taught him how clap, how to crawl, how to walk and how to use an iPad. (Maybe she'll move back in to potty train him???)

... she spoils him rotten with cool gifts and endless attention, she is very good aunt, godmother and sister. I really appreciate her loyalty and dedication to the people she loves.  I feel like I can count on her in a way I can count on few people. We love you so much Ash!

Christmas in February?

Yesterday was a day that I thought might never arrive... the movers finally brought our things!

It's a relief to have all of our stuff, but it's also a lot of work to unpack it all.  Little man thinks it's Christmas again.  He loves opening up each box and taking each item out one by one. It is a slow process but the progress is rewarding.

We are ALMOST settled.  Here's what's left on our to-do  list:
  1. Unpack all of these boxes
  2. Find a house to buy
  3. Buy a house
  4. Re-pack all of the boxes
  5. Un-pack all of the re-packed boxes
Sounds easy enough... right???
This is what it looks like to be up to your eyeballs in boxes, literally.

Bathtime Extravaganza

What started out as a normal bath ended up being quite an event! Little man was nice and clean and playing nicely soI decided to peek at my phone and check my unread texts. Well, they were for little man! Apparently he texted my mom, dad and sisters without me seeing. As I was laughing about this, I noticed lil man had taken the cap off the baby wash and had poured 3/4 of its contents into the bath water. Ahhh! Well, I guess we are having a bubble bath! We turned the faucet back on and made some suds!! It ended up being a lot of fun, so much fun that we had a "grand finale" at the end (a grand finale is when lil man pees in the tub -- it actually happens more than you would think and always signal the bath is over!!) So, here's to a good bath. Cheers!

Just A Little Off the Top

This weekend we took little man to get a hair trim! We found a great kids place that was full of toys and had the sweetest ladies. This was little man's second time getting a trim and he wasn't too scared! He wanted to hold my hand which was really cute. Luckily there were NO tears! As you can see, he took it all very seriously. While we were there, my Mr. had them tidy up his 'do' also. Am I sensing a new father-son tradition?!

Curls

Before we left NJ, I used an online tutorial to curl my hair. (Click here to see the video tutorial i used)

I usually part it on the side but this time tried parting it straight down the middle. Next I sectioned it off and curled it away from my face. It looked nice all day and still pretty good the next day. The downside is that it took me about 30 minutes. I think it may take me a few more times to get it exactly the way I want it, but it was a fun change-up!

Peekaboo!

When I use my phone to take a picture or video, little man thinks we're playing peekaboo. He stretches to see my face from behind the phone and thinks it'sreally funny. I tried to take a video of him in his crib and well... you can see the game for yourself ... Enjoy!

Surprise Visitor!!

Today, my dad spent the day with us. He was in New Hampshire for work but was able to get away for a few hours to drive down. I knew he was coming over but it was a complete surprise to lil man and he was ecstatic!

We had a fun time reading books, playing with play-dough, playing race & chase (not pictured) and practiced giving grandpa "the rock." Then Gramp took us out for a lobster dinner!! Hard to beat the lobster in New England. YUM. Thanks for a great visit, Dad!!

Painting With Water

Today we used construction paper, a paint brush and WATER! I am a huge fan of no-mess art ... and this one is really easy to clean up. The water leaves a dark mark on the paper which little man loved but unfortunately it disappears when it dries. Little man really liked stirring the paint brush in the water dish. Eventually he did try to paint his hair, his shirt and drink the paint... A regular Picasso.

All that arts & crafts made us hungry! ...because let's face it, being an artist is hard work!! So we ate some Valentines cookies sent by Gram Pam, Gramp Mike & Aunt Jenna. They were sooo good and full of sugar. Afterwards we ran laps around the house and squealed and danced. #hyperchild

Blizzard 2013

It's really hard to take pictures (from the warmth and comfort of my cozy home) and show the magnitude of this snow storm. For one, snow is tricky to photograph. The whole picture just turns out white!

So here is my neighbor clearing the sidewalk. Bottom line: There is TONS of snow. How many inches? I have no idea. Plenty though!

Keeping Busy

Here are some things we did yesterday to keep us busy while it was snowing.

- peeking out the window, watching the neighbors shovel snow
- taste-testing the snow. Brrr!
- helping mom in the kitchen
